We enjoyed our days at the Solomons Island YC. While there, we walked, ate meals onboard and relaxed. I had a great massage at a local day spa, and Gerry worked on getting our AIS set up.
Wed night, the yacht club has Taco Night. $10 for all the taco’s you want, along with ice cream and hot fudge for dessert. Cash bar, $4.50 for a glass of nice wine and $4.00 for Corona! We felt pretty frugal.
Another morning, we cleaned the inside of the boat like when we first purchased her. Later that afternoon, we went to the local Tiki Bar and found out it was customer appreciation day, this meant, free appetizers and $4.00 drinks. Another frugal night!
During one of our walks, I made Gerry laugh….. we found this really seedy cafe. Normally he has the puns, this time it is was me!
Oh the full Moon was so beautiful!
By Saturday, we were ready to keep moving. We left Solomons Island at 6:45 AM (yes, it was cold with the sun rise) with the wind behind us and a favorable tides (for some of the trip) we made it to Norfolk/Portsmouth VA. It did get warmer and pretty comfortable the last part of the trip. The third picture is a screenshot of us going over the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnels. Very cool!
We tied up for the night at https://tidewateryachtmarina.com/.
We took a walk around Portsmouth and had happy hour at https://fishnslips.com/ They have great food! After eating, we hung out on the boat and watched TV. We love our Star-link!
We also went on a hunt for Gerry’s travel partner from the spring trip up, Louie (the Locust). We didn’t find him, and thankfully the vegetation near where we left him wasn’t decimated by invasive insects….
Sunday morning, the next part of our adventure was beginning! Mile 0 of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).
Here is information on the ICW for those who are not familiar: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intracoastal_Waterway
During this first leg went through a lock, under numerous bridges, waited for swing bridges, and even saw a bald eagle. (Sorry no picture). And fog, thick, dense fog for a little while. It made for some surprised fishermen in small boat when a group of LARGE yachts and then we went by.
We are now in Coinjack! https://coinjockmarina.com/. Dinner on shore for the famous Prime Rib at 6PM.
Google Maps - we are the blue dot on the bottom right!

How do you decide where and when you will stop? Do you reserve the Mariana ahead?
That bridge tunnel is very cool, been over it many times... Some serious engineering. Safe travels
